Coat

Maine Coons have a three layered coat designed for the cold: two under coats and an outer guard coat. The coat can be varied from black to white and all kinds of tabby patterns and colors. Due to the long coat, they do need a lot of grooming.

Build

These large cats can weigh up to 25lbs and average around 17lbs. They have big, furry paws and a large fluffy tail designed to help the breed in snow.

Face

With a strong face and mane, this breed has a regal look. Markings on the brows of Maine Coons are often arranged in an "M" shape and they have among the longest whiskers of all cats. Their ears are proportionately large with tufts which are often on the ear tips.

Behavior

The Maine Coon breed is very much a gentle giant. It is ideal as a first-time cat due to its loving nature and will be a loyal member of the family.
